MY SON

Since my son Patrick's arrival in 1990, my life and career have changed. It's amazing how swiftly your priorities shift when a child enters your life. So many of your self-interests drop away to complete insignificance.

While my life took on a new seriousness in raising my son, my career also took on fresh gravity as I looked to leave behind a legacy in which my son could not only take pride but find truth. As he looks forward to his senior year at Gulfport High, I find myself dreading the inevitable parting that looms just ahead in the distance. He plans to go to my alma mater, The University of Southern Mississippi, which makes it a little easier.

My son's arrival in 1990 marked a turning point in my life and career. I wanted to show him the world through my photographs.

And of course, I took every opportunity to get my son in a few frames as well.

Pat and Pat
Pat probably has one of the coolest namesakes of any of his friends. Although Pat Simmons' son, Little Pat, wondered why someone not related to his dad would name their kid after him.

Pat and Tim at MM Roberts
We don't see as many Southern Miss football games as we once did, but we still enjoy talking sports.

Patrick
Now he's all grown up and driving. He's headed to Southern Miss himself next year.
